Røros - world heritage

The mining town Røros is one of the five world heritage sites in Norway. Unfortunately it welcomed us with wet snow and the first round we did to see the old houses was quite unpleasant.
However, the preciptation stopped and there were even a few sun rays in the evening so we could see the sand dunes from the ice age close to Røros and do a second tour through the town.

The only snow-rainy picture I am showing here it the legendary reindeer which supposedly helped finding the copper ore. There was a hunter who shot the reindeer and while dying it was stamping on the ground so much that the shining copper ore came out.

Close to Røros, there are some nice sand dunes which were deposited by a glacier.

And the quite famous church of Røros:

Close to the smeltery, there are cinder deposits everywhere.

Some of the oldest miner houses and in my opinion the nicest one - very small but with grass roof

  1. wow great pictures although there was no "pleasant" weather... but this shows the atmosphere of the old days much better than sunshine

is there any possibility to find minerals in this deposits like we did on Elba?
